Letter to a Younger Version of Myself

Letter to a Younger Version of Myself

It’s never too late to be the person you wanted as a kid.

There’s never a bad time to take care of yourself.

This open letter is for you to read if you need forgiveness for past wrongs, recognition of who you are now, or gratitude for how far you’ve come.

These are the things I wish I had learned when I was younger, and you may be able to relate.

First and foremost, you’ll get through it — through this, through all.

No matter how bad things sound, it’s not the end of everything.

It’s not the end if it’s not okay.

This is yours right now… right here, right now. This is the time of your life. The way things are right now? It won’t always be like this. Things will change, and you will change as well. But whatever stage of life you’re in right now, it’s yours to assert. So go ahead and say it.

Take care of your life. Make choices that you are proud of. Make a claim on each and every breath you take. Embrace the moment and make it yours. Nobody else will be able to help you. Nobody else has the authority to think for you, love for you, or live in your house.

It is up to you to do your own believing, forgiving, and living.

And this is how you live a life of few regrets: you welcome anything you encounter, even if it is bad. And when you do so, you are doing what you were born to do: you are coming alive.

Every ups and downs, every tear and thrill are all part of the journey. This is your life, and you have no excuse to be ashamed of who you are.

All under the sun, including you, has a place and a reason.

You don’t have to feel bad for trying it out on your own. You are not required to follow in the footsteps of others. You have your own value and place in the world.

Don’t believe a single one of the millions of ways you can be told you’re not enough.

Who you are is exactly who you were created to be. Accept yourself right now, and you’ll be surprised by who you become.

Accept the situation. Accept your fate right now. This is the key to transformation, growth, and happiness, and it’s right in front of your eyes, right now, right in your heart.

Sure, you’ll make a mistake. And you’ll work it out. And long after you think you’ve got it all figured out, you’ll rise and trip over your own feet. That’s good. You’re not alone in this.

Some walks may have to be taken alone, but that doesn’t stop you from feeling like a child of the earth, taking in the soul of the world.

Don’t forget how valuable it is to be alive, and don’t undervalue your own life. Don’t underestimate your meaning. You have no idea how important you are.

But don’t be too harsh on yourself, because no one has it all figured out. (Even though they believe they do.)

If you could go back in time and tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

Please let me know in the comments. I read each and every one, and I’m curious!
